Here’s a fact.
Anyone with a credit card can buy a closetful of clothing. But very few women can build a wardrobe.
Ask any stylist and she’ll likely tell you that the most important part of any wardrobe is the foundation. Basics. At Wrabyn, we call them Wardrobe Essentials because (in our opinion) you can’t dress without them. Wardrobe Essentials are the go anywhere, do anything, see anyone items that are resistant to trend or season. They are timeless and tireless. And when thoughtfully chosen, they will serve you and your wardrobe for years.
“Choose well. Make it last.” –Vivienne Westwood
I get it. It’s hard to get excited about a simple and foundational clothing item. And of course I’d rather buy a statement piece over a stack of t-shirts. But think about how many times you wear your favorite t-shirt that fits juuuuuuuust right. Imagine your closet without it? Exactly. My point is that the right mix of Wardrobe Essentials use makes dressing easier and your personal style better.

Tees. This is one category in which you needn’t worry about having too many. I recommend stocking up on your favorite tees so that you always have a back-up ready to go. Avoid the trap of buying just any old t-shirt and think about which styles are best for your style and lifestyle.
Once reserved only for men in suits, women have turned shirting into a fashion staple. Wear alone or layered. Rumpled or pressed. At the office or in the coffee shop. There is not a lot that can go wrong when styling your button up. Unless or course, you don’t have at least one hanging in your closet.
Denim has become an integral part of dressing. And with so many options available in design and fit, you have no excuse not to love your jeans. Sure, denim trends are all over the map these days, but when it comest to your essentials, chose ones that deliver on the stylish ease that this closet staple was made for.
These are the outfit makers. The extra pieces that turn a t-shirt and jeans into a dinner-date-worthy moment. Blazers and layering pieces can be essential and show-stopping all at the same time. Focus on fit (the seamstress is your friend) and you will always, always be dressed to impress.
My personal approach to dressing is pretty casual; maybe even plain at times. But never boring. Having a closetful of elevated and well-chosen essentials has served my personal style well. And it will yours too! Let us help you build your perfect assortment of Wardrobe Essentials! Stop in or schedule time with our team of stylists.
